I enjoyed this book, it’s always fun to read a mystery involving poison. The main character is rambunctious and gets herself into a lot of trouble. The little  bit of romance is nice and believable. The reason for not giving this a full 5 is that I’m left not feeling very attached to the main character nor if her story continues.

At a dinner party for University College of London staff, someone is poisoned. Newly hired research assistant, Saffron, puts on her detective cap to prove her mentor’s innocence. Alexander Ashton, another one of the scientists, gets pulled into her investigation and flirting starts up between the two of them. Can they figure out who actually poisoned the guest before a large group of the suspects get on a boat for their research trip to the Amazon? Or will Alexander have to set sail with a would-be murderer? I love a smart and flirty whodunit.

This is the first book of a STEM inspired mystery series and it offered an amazing story. It offers characters that are brilliant and charming set to the backdrop of 1920s London.

well...a page turner for sure. i found the writing a bit... juvenile? it's a nice read, tho. the mc is a bit of an impulsive pusher & i found myself cringing at some of the things she did. the romance on the side was a nice touch & honestly? kind of one of the best elements of the book. for the actual mystery? it made my head hurt but not bc of it being complex, but rather all the terminology being used that just made it kind of a chore to read. anyway. it's a nice read.
