Complicated feelings. Many of the ideas are rooted in good foundations but this book felt so ... privileged, somehow. Maybe it’s not quite the philosophy for my particular kid, maybe the pandemic and diagnoses and other circumstances have affected my family in complicated ways, maybe I read it on a bad day. But mostly while reading I did not feel hopeful and full of ideas, I just felt judged, sad, and/or protective of my toddler who is nowhere near able to do what this book says she should be able to do if I followed this book. I can’t give a book that made me cry and feel hopeless more than 2 stars. So.
