A disturbing, fascinating, and brilliantly written account of an ill young acolyte at Japan's most famous temple in the years following WWII.

Somehow, "No longer human" manages to be less chauvinistic than this one. AND THATS SAYING A LOT. also, confusing af sometimes i felt like i was losing IQ
