A book like this is exactly why I with goodreads would allow 1/2 stars. 3.5/5.
The first half of the book was fun, the second half of the book was quite a bit less interesting and the wrap-up was a bit too rushed for my liking.

Oh my goodness! Was this the most boring book I have ever read! I read it because the recommendation said this was Jane Austens most adult protagonist and most realistic story. Well I am sorry for the people who think so. Nothing really happend in the whole book. I think Anne did really hurt Wentworth when she broke off the engagement and 8 years later he just forgives her for everything. But she never even apologised. They didn't even talk much...just stared at each other for a while and all was resolved. Nothing was logical in this book and the last thing I would call Anne Elliot is "adult" or reasonable. I cannot recommend this book. Unless you want to be bored out of your mind of course. :)

"I am half agony, half hope."
Jane Austen knows how to make her characters suffer and her readers alongside them. It is not about loud quarrels but instead about the noted glances, the words unsaid, the small gestures that bring the tension to "Persuasion".

2.5// first of all.. idek wentworth enough to care about him or their love bc he's in maybe 6 scenes the entire book

this would have thoroughly benefited from a split timeline but like I know that wasn't a thing in the time

the first 90% of the book is irrelevant and the rest summarized so much dialogue that would have actually been interesting to read
