Hmmmmmmmmmmmm...................
Nggak tau sebenernya gue bingung (lagi), kayaknya udah umum banget gue bingung sama buku tapi gue beneran nggak tau. Disini latar belakang nya di kota yang nggak bernama tapi yang jelas di Jepang, beberapa kali juga wilayah lain kayak Tokyo, Kansai, Yokohama, dsb disebutkan tapi poin intinya dan fokusnya mungkin cuman ke Kota Tak Bernama ini sama Tokyo. Kebetulan walaupun di Kota Tak Bernama memang nggak bernama, tapi cukup ramai didatangi oleh turis terlebih lagi ternyata di buku ini ada Manga yang latar belakang nya di Kota Tak Bernama yang TERNYATA Selain itu, dibuku ini juga lagi pandemi Covid-19 yang menurut gue juga menarik banget karena penulis mau ambil latar belakang ini.
Namanya buku misteri pembunuhan ya wajar aja dong GUE SUUZAN, mana sampe pertengahan buku gue bener bener masih belum kepikiran siapa selain bahwa itu temen nya si Mayo. Dibilang ketebak juga enggak, tapi kalau lu udah tau dalangnya siapa ya.. Nggak kaget, dan sejujurnya karena banyak keywords yang disebutin jadi gue nggak kaget sama sekali pas tau siapa pembunuhnya.
Omong omong soal karakternya, menurut gue Mayo dan Takeshi ini sebenernya cocok jadi partner banget walaupun mereka sering tengkar. Sampai saat ini juga sebenernya gue masih belum ngerti jelas terkait karakternya Takeshi yang mungkin emang nggak dijelasin karena fokusnya buku ini ke kasus pembunuhan Ayah Mayo dan kakak nya Takeshi, yaitu Kamio Eiichi. Tapi yang gue paham jelas bahwa si Takeshi sama Mayo ini sebenernya beneran family chemistrynya dapet banget (HUHUHU) mereka lucu banget walau keliatannya kayak sering tengkar tapi di ending, lagi, itu mereka diawal ngobrol terkait kasus dan memang habis itu si Takeshi ini nanya terkait hubungan Mayo sama Kenta (yang status nya tunangan Mayo) karena memang itu tujuan awal Takeshi manggil Mayo. Ya kebetulan hubungan mereka ini memang agak canggung makanya Takeshi mikir ada yang salah sama hubungan mereka, apalagi dengan insting, kepekaan, dan kecerdasan seorang Kamio Takeshi. Ya kurang lebih begitulah gue capek lu baca sendiri aja. Tapi emang Takeshi ini mencolok banget, nyentrik bgt anying kek buset dah. Untung untung dia dijalan yang tepat dan penyelidikan jadinya terselesaikan karena dia juga. Disini polisi nya yang ngebantu Takeshi bukan Takeshi yang ngebantu polisi. Emang hebat banget si Takeshi ini, skill nya enggak main main. Manipulatif kali ya bahasa kasarnya?
Selain itu, menurut gue ada salah satu temen SMP Mayo yang paling memorable banget yaitu mendiang Tsukumi Naoya, tapi menurut gue kesan yang dituliskan sama penulis terkait Naoya itu bahwa dia salah satu teman SMP Mayo yang paling berkenang, terlebih lagi ditulis bahwasanya mereka sempet berbunga bunga pada masanya. Tengilnya iku the fact that it could be better if atau apa kayak KASIAN BGT sama hasil usaha yang lu udah lakuin bertahun tahun. But overall, buku nya seru karena gak se-flat itu walau ternyata pembunuhannya dan boleh lah nyoba baca bukunya, apalagi kalau misalnya lu suka baca genre semacam misteri penyelidikan kasus pembunuhan yang latar belakang nya udah modern.

now, how do I start reviewing this?
okay, first let me tell you i've never had any expectations when reading Keigo's books because he always creates THE MOST DRAMATIC TURN OF EVENTS. if you said plot twist well he said "girl, let me add more" (dropping all the TWISTS like he's breathing). and that's why I LOVEEEE reading all his novels.
and second, like most of all his novels, this mystery and murder and crime and the bloody plotline revolves around ordinary people with PASSION. i assume he love to wrote some nerd doing shitty things and still like ... acting nonchalant after some mysterious events happening?? HOW CAN THEY OMG?? but hey, that's exactly what makes his book interesting.
so, to sum up in this book a magician appear after his brother's got murdered in their hometown and so when he come back home he also meets her niece (who's still in shocked bc her father suddenly die) after a very long time. together, they solved the murder mystery. you guys will say "BOORIIIINGGG" while reading some early chapters (honestly, me too.) but worry not, Keigo will entertained us with his writing abt the characters's personalities. so this is why when you read the ending, everything gets more and more interesting like you're actually involved in their schemes!! like you're part of them!! you would be "GIRL WHO ARE YOU CHEATING WITH?? OMG I DIDN'T SEE THAT COMING???!!! BUT LIKEEE???? GIRLLL HAVE SOME SHAMEE"
that's why there's 516 pages of the story!! it needed, trust me. it took me a week to ATE the whole book :) i'm totally enjoying the plotline!! 馃槈馃槈
okay, i'm aware my review will be biased (since i'm a fan of his works), so let me say that some people will find this book quite frustrating bc the FL did nothing but watching (exactly like us, readers) her uncle solving all the mystery. but trust me, it's worth to read. and to be fair, i think this concept of not doing anything was intended bc as you see the ML is a magician and guess what kind of tricks he used to solve some mysteries?? WE. DON'T. KNOW. a magician tells no secret, guys!! that's why!! so, just enjoy the show!!! 馃か馃か馃か馃か
(i still had a few more pages left, so let me finished it and come back to tell you some more)
I'M BACCK. i got the closure i want. and it's an open ending. so, readers can assume whatever they want. good job Keigo Higashino-san for left me hanging like a wet towel. thankyou.
OH. for the third point, if you realize one or two thing, Keigo have this tendency to write about morally grey characters. imo, he implies that we need to be careful and not making a quick judgment towards others. be suspicious with everyone and everything. live with your unidentified fear. (well, not that extreme actually)

my final rating is 4.75 and that's because i'm still a bit unsure and confused (or maybe it's because i'm not that smart) with some details that happening in the story. but if you're looking for a book who told a story about a creator and what's the truth behind their spectacular works, you should definitely grab and READ this one!! 馃嵒馃嵒馃嵒

EPIC! awalnya bingung kenapa sampai 3/4 buku belum ketebak siapa pelakunya, tapi ternyata dari awal sudah diberikan clue yang sangat amat implisit. peran takeshi alias paman dan black showman benar-benar lebih membantu dibandingkan polisi yang ada. mungkin ini sebuah sindirian kepada mereka yang lambat dalam mengupas kasus pembunuhan. ceritanya cukup panjang karena masing-masing tokoh dijelaskan secara rinci mengenai keterlibatan dalam kasus ini. meskipun panjang tapi ceritanya tetap seru dan tidak membosankan. ada saja kejutan yang hadir di setiap babnya. plot twist yang didapat juga luar biasa seru!
