Hooked on another series by Giana Darling, can’t wait to see what’s next! This romance was a bit taboo and not my cup of tea, but King’s brilliant mind and heart melting poems sucked me in and Cress’s innocence with an unexplored bad girl side gave their story and romance balance.

I was excited to delve into my first book by Giana Darling, having heard nothing but great things! I'm not a blurb or review reader, so I went in relatively blind. I have some good points and some challenges to share with you on my experience in reading Lessons In Corruption. First the good!
-I can see where people are immediately drawn into the story! From the first few pages, the description of King is awe inspiring. You'll feel like you are in the parking lot with Cressida, losing your breathe and feeling new breathe for the first time in your life.
-The cast of supporting characters and peeks of their life is great. I love the feeling of building a support system around the main characters and Giana definitely has that down!
-King is a poet, a biker poet. Gah!!!! The poetry and words from King are mesmerizing.
-The chemistry between Cress and King is off the charts tingly.
Now for the challenges I had reading LIC:
- Editing. Even though I was advised to update my copy and that changes had been made. I still struggled heavily with the errors. Simple spelling errors, confusing plot and time line issues, punctuation errors, sentences that literally don't make sense; I'm a detail person and moving on from these things took all of my will.
-King is smart guy, a poet biker for goodness sake. He works his butt off to get into one of the most prestigious academies in the country. Yet, he uses the word "babe" so much; it has me second guessing his level of intelligence. I don't mind using "babe" as a term of endearment, but when it appears 10 times on a page, I'm done. I literally stopped reading a book prior to this one because the word was so overused. Again, I think this is something that could've been fixed with the use of a good editor. To have such amazing poetry come from the same guy who can't come up with another word for his beloved until 60% of the book drove me insane.
-Character inconsistencies. Cress.....good ole Cress. I wanted to love her! I am an MC Queen lover; seriously, I could wax poetic about my love for other MC Queens. Unfortunately, because of how manic Cress is in LIC, she won't be included in my list of favorites. I can forgive some of my issues with her because she is sheltered and unexperienced at life. But she's a little too "runaway bride" for me at this point; she tailors her life and preferences to the man she's with and that's not ok with me. I want to know who the real Cressida is, not the meek goodie two shoes her parents raised or William's wife. Or the bad biker babe who made a full life makeover to be with King. I'd like for her to be a mix of both, because I truly think that is where she should be, but of course these are all just my opinions and impressions. She might be finding her true self now. Maybe we'll see it in future books. But in this representation, I don't buy it.
-MC Life. I've read a lot of MC books and true 1% clubs don't operate quite like The Fallen. In my experience, King wouldn't have the choices Zeus is giving him. You're legacy, you're in no matter what. Also, why is he bossing anyone around in the MC, brothers especially; if he is not even a prospect? I couldn't quite buy all of the aspects of The Fallen as a true 1% club, so that fell short for me as well.
I feel like my review has been a huge debbie downer, and it wasn't meant to be. I can see elements of greatness in Giana's writings. The poetry written by King is pure gold. Like I want to print it on my skin and read his words daily. But overall, as the book stands in current form; it was not a love affair for me.
I will try other books from Giana and if LIC were to be re-edited, I would definitely try again!
I'm somewhere between a 2 and 3 star as it stands, GR defines a 2 star as "it was ok". And how I feel after reading, it truly was just ok.
