A man crash lands his plane in the Sahara desert. He's all alone until out of nowhere comes a little boy he's dubbed The Little Prince.
While the man tries to fix his plane, The Little Prince asks him questions and regales him with tales of his own planet and his travels to other planets.

I picked this one up because it was on a list of classics everyone should read at least once. Despite being a wildly popular children's classic I've never actually read it before (not even as a child).
I decided to listen to it as an audiobook and chose the version read by Richard Gere and Haley Joel Osment. It was really good as an audiobook!
The book, while being a children's book, is also a philosophical book too. I won't say I can interpret everything about it. But if I had to interpret it, I'd say it's about a man whose son is dying. Each of the planets and people that The Little Prince talks about could be those grownups that have played a major role in his life -- grownups who are arrogant or vain or too busy.
It's a bit of a sad book. In the end, The Little Prince says he has to leave Earth and that it will look like he's dying because his body is too heavy to take with him to his planet. And it's all rather sad.
I'm sure there are deeper meanings and interpretations. But I think the core message would be to be present with those you love while you have them with you. And to not let your own pride consume you and your life.
Overall it was a bittersweet book with a good message. I liked it and I can see why it has stood the test of time. It definitely makes you think about life and what's really important.
