A sweet, tender story about a young woman who finds love and faith while working at a church - A perfect fit for the contemporary Christian fiction genre.

There were a lot of faith based elements, obviously, and the characters developed well. I enjoyed Dylan’s character but struggled with relating to Jan sometimes. For me personally, I desired more challenge, depth and excitement to the story than what was presented. Readers who enjoy clean, simple Christian romances will find this book enjoyable. It reminded me very much of a movie you might watch on Pureflix or Hallmark.

CF AVID challenge MarchI loved this story. I can't wait to start the next one in the series. I appreciated a CF book whose main character started out not believing and watching how she is drawn to Christ. I always enjoy the repartee between the MMC and the FMC.

A few years ago, I stumbled upon Tammy L. Gray as she was promoting her series, Bentwood. Charmed by her relatable and realistic narratives, I was devastated to learn that she was struggling with being a writer and contemplating quitting. Thankfully, God intervened and sparked new inspiration that led to the creation of her latest novel, Love and a Little White Lie.

Summary: After years of failed relationships and endless disappointment, January seeks refuge on her Aunt Doreen’s property while she licks her wounds after the worst breakup of her life. Heartbroken and lost, January apprehensively agrees to take a job at her aunt’s church, despite being an agnostic. How bad can a little white lie hurt, right? However, January will learn the repercussions, along with gaining a new understanding of her past.

Love and a Little White Lie is the perfect contemporary novel! Each chapter brought growth, love, revelation, and passion that many authors use to create narratives based solely on physical attraction; however, the way Tammy L. Gray introduced a spiritual aspect into these emotions powerfully transformed the story. I felt a piece of myself in each of the characters, and as things began to fall into place, I had to hold back tears as raw emotions exuded off the page!

Tammy L. Gray has returned with a firework! A new season is upon her, and Love and a Little White Lie is the first book of a fantastic series! It was refreshing to read a clean storyline, though romance was not absent in the slightest. I laughed, I cried, and I felt inspired. All of us have obstacles to overcome, and this book gave an incredible testimony of how each of us is invited to experience redemption, love, and a second chance.

*I was given a pre-release copy of this book by Bethany House Publishers and NetGalley. This is my honest opinion.*

3.5 stars. I read Love and the Silver Lining — the second book in the State of Grace series — before this one and I actually prefer that one. I didn’t like Cam in that book and found that I preferred the other love interest (go Dillon!) in this book too so I was disappointed to find that a lot of Love and a Little White Lie focuses on Cam’s relationship with January, before she ends up with Dillon. I also didn’t love January. I didn’t dislike her but I felt like I was missing the kind of connection with her that I had with Darcy in Love and the Silver Lining. I did love Dillon, however, as much (okay, maybe not quite, but close) as I loved Bryson in the second book. Not sure if I’ll read the third one in the series since it focuses on Cameron.

This was highly entertaining. The characters were so realistic, unlike the cookie cutter characters that are often present in Christian fiction. January’s slow journey to faith was well done, and I loved Dillon’s character so much. Jan’s decisions often drove me nuts, but she does better as time goes on. The whole church family was lovely, and I hope to see more of them in future books in this series. Overall, a really great read and the audio narration is excellent.

If you're looking for a different kind of love story, Love and a Little White Lie is one worth checking out. In this book, we meet January (Jan). Having had a bad breakup, she is staying on her aunt's property to sort through things and finds a job working at her aunt's church. There's just one problem... she is not a Christian and was raised to believe that having faith was rather foolish. Certainly not your typical lead character in a Christian novel. Still, it added an authenticity to the story that I really enjoyed. It also really had me rooting to see her find a relationship with God.

The romance in this story was a bit different too. I can't say too much without giving it away, but again there was an authenticity to the story that certainly set it apart from others in the genre. I admit I wasn't sure how I felt about it at certain points in the story... but in the end, I really enjoyed how it all came together.

My favorite Bible verse is Esther 4:14: For such a time as this. As I was reading, I could help but think about how fitting it was for this book. Sometimes we find ourselves in a position that doesn't always make a lot of sense to us... but God always has us right where He wants us, and He will use that in often unexpected ways.

Overall, this is a really great read and one that fans of inspirational romance are sure to enjoy! It's definitely one worth checking out!

**I received a complimentary copy from the publisher for consideration. All thoughts are 100% my own.
