a story of longing- for unencumbered romance, maternal love, deep friendship, and escape from malice and judgment. glimmering with beautifully-crafted sentences though slightly dulled by a predictable plot. the omnipotent 'greek chorus' of mothers narrating the story was exciting but a tad melodramatic. i yearned to feel more nuance and emotional closeness to the characters.

I really enjoyed this book, I loved the pace and the reality of the main characters. I didn't want to put it down. There were occasional moments when I was simply asking really, but it was a really good book.
