Once again a very exciting book by Brown. I love history, social science and religion. When Brown combines these three subjects into a book, he creates a very exciting novel that captures one's interest very quickly!

While I was about halfway through The Da Vinci Code I immediately went to go and buy this one. I personally don't go for squeamish scary stuff because well, let's be honest... I'm a wimp. But Dan Brown takes the genre of thriller and twists it.
I love how gripping his novels are. Robert Langdon, Harvard Symbologist takes us on a journey that is so thought provoking and has so many twists and turns to it that you can't not love it or put it down. This time we follow Robert and Vittoria Vetra on a journey between science and religion. They are in Vatican City at the time of the famous conclave while they are trying to find this thing called "anti-matter" before it detonates and destroys Vatican City. But not just that would of course be happening because of threats of the famous satanic group The Illuminati on a killing spree of the 4 favorites of cardinals favorited for the new pope.
The twists and turns that this story is insane. I was trying to figure out throughout the novel who would be behind this entire thing and I was wrong! I am so happy to see that I am wrong because I didn't want to end up being right because then that's not exciting at all. Yes I was completely squeamish about how they killed the four cardinals, mostly it was just the first one that really get to me but then it got more bearable to deal with as it went along.
It was amazingly enjoyable and I can't wait to pick up the third book the the Robert Langdon series!

Ah. Mazing.

No other way to put it.

Now, I was sad considering that I had already seen the movie, so I knew what was going to happen in the book. No big shocker for me. However, if I hadn't seen the movie, the ending would have blown me out of the water.

Dan Brown writes an extremely fast paced novel that combines religion and mystery into a book that is absolutely worth your time. Every twist and turn kept me interested; I couldn't put this book down.

The mystery was awesome and the clues were ingenious. I don't know how someone can come up with that.

I honestly don't know what to say, other then you should read this book. Read it before you watch the movie if you haven't already.

Ready for the next Langdon adventure!

I got about two hours into the audiobook when I got fed up with all of the "science and religion aren't compatible! But wait, these religious people did these sciencey things!" The foreshadowing is thick enough that you can cut it with a knife and the daughter of the murdered priest is basically a Bond girl. I'm not wasting 16 more hours on it.

I liked Angels and Demons when I first read it since all that fictional information rooted in facts, theories and speculations were fascinating. The action sequences and the Vatican crisis were only second to the wealth of trivia that Robert Langdon lectured me with. I read this after The Da Vinci Code back when the hype about the controversial book, as well as the movie, was at all time high. I was enthralled. I have always been interested in history (when it's not taught in a boring classroom), archaeology (I had once vowed to be the next Lara Croft but I found out when I was applying for college that my chosen university just had a graduate program in archaeology) and mysteries. After reading Robert Langdon, I was walking around like a peacock that comes with intriguing new information.

Undergraduate and graduate research tamed that cockiness, in addition to my own research about all the "facts" presented in these books.

Yet I'm still fascinated, intrigued because even if we could study all the archival evidence we could get our hands on, debate both sides of a Möbius strip while high on coffee and be as fanatical about our own beliefs and investigations there is the simple fact that we were not intimately, physically there and then to witness these things being done. We are just the products of those, contenting ourselves with what the remnants that descended from them. Plus, fact is stranger than fiction. Everything has its foundation.

However, I was not as engaged as I was when I was rereading Angels and Demons for the past two days.

Info-dumping. It felt like I was in a classroom where my history teacher was droning on and on. Much as the lesson was interesting, info-dumping was not the way to go. Jesus, stop sugarcoating it. Sometimes, it was boring as hell. Heck, I fell even fell asleep. I skipped pages, skimmed read and just flew threw the last pages and stopped when the Conclave was confronting the villain. Perhaps because I already the knew the story, what will happen, who the real villain was, that I just lost interest. I still finished it. Yay, for perseverance!

This is one of the most game-changing books I've ever read.

Honestly, since it was a super old read, I have quite not much recollection about this book. I can imagine my old self liking Dan Brown series to an extent back then. And i still do.

Why didn't I give this book a chance earlier. It's amazing. The story revolves around a lecturer/symbologist(?) from Harvard University, Robert Langdon, and he has been summoned by the authorities from Vatican City to solve a murder case which involves an ancient cult/brotherhood, the Illuminati.

I enjoy riddles generally and this book has quite a number of them. That's one aspect I really love about the book, it makes me THINK. And also, because I LEARNED NEW THINGS from reading this book. From time to time, I ended up Googling names of statues and places in Rome stated in the book. Although at times I wasn't sure which ones were real and which ones weren't, like whether if it is true that there's more to see beneath/underneath Vatican City, with all the secret hideouts and tombs and vaults and hi-tech library, and what not. But hey, it's an interesting read.

Of course, there are many religious references, especially Christianity, in the book. The main story of the book basically roots from the issue of Religion vs. Science. Anyway, there's nothing I don't like about this book. The font size and spacing of this particular edition isn't bad either. Highly recommended for those who love a bit of adventure and a bit of science-religion read.

I forgot how intricate this book was! The symbology is amazing. I’ve reread this book so many times and still it’s a favorite of mine. Dan Brown really knocked this one out of the park.
