¡Wow! ¡Hace mucho que quería leer este libro! No suelo leer contemporáneos porque, como les digo siempre, no me engancho tanto. Pero hay libros del género que siempre sé que no van a decepcionarme y decido leerlos. Es un proceso extraño y peculiar, si, pero suelo estar en lo correcto en cuanto a si voy a disfrutar o no un contemporáneo. "THE HATE U GIVE" es el mejor ejemplo de todos ;)
Honestamente, no me esperaba lo que encontré en este libro. Me sumergí en esta lectura sin informarme demasiado y la verdad es que me sorprendí enormemente. No esperaba esto del libro... pero fue una sorpresa placentera. La escritura estuvo muy bien, la CONSTRUCCIÓN DE PERSONAJES estuvo fantástica y... No sé, no creo que esta novela sea de esas que puedo reseñar normalmente. Los factores en los que me fijo en los libros de fantasía no suelen ser tan importantes en los contemporáneos.
En "The Hate U Give", lo que cuenta es el poder de la historia. Y déjenme decir que esta historia es perfecta. Es EXACTAMENTE LO QUE NECESITAMOS OIR HOY EN DÍA. Es la verdad es algunos ignoran y el mensaje que muchos conocemos pero no en profundidad. Y Angie Thomas no tiene miedo de soltarlo todo. Su narración me pareció arriesgada, porque no se inmutada en decir ciertas cosas... Cosas que todos sabemos que son reales pero en las que no nos aventuramos. Angie Thomas simplemente lo hace, y es una jugada arriesgada. Pero a la vez es la más preciada. Es la más importante y la más honesta. Y LA SOCIEDAD DE HOY EN DÍA NECESITA HISTORIAS HONESTAS. Necesitamos libros como este, esos que no tienen miedo de decir lo que otros no se animan a pronunciar.
¡LEAN ESTE LIBRO! ¡El mundo merece historias como esta! Son las que realmente importan.

This book has turned me into a puddle of emotions. The story, the characters, the writing, and the message.... it was all phenomenal. Everyone should read this book. EVERYONE!

Started this book last night and spent my entire day today finishing it. Holy shit this book is amazing. Unfortunately it's also as relevant as ever, so every word hits so hard. I also don't think that I've ever consumed content that features this much beautiful, loving Black family content. The primary plotline is so heartwrenching and tragic, but there are also so many moments throughout the book that just ooze with love and joy and fun and goofiness. Too many mainstream Black stories (almost always produced by white people) overly focus on the exploitation of Black people's pain and gloss past the humanity of their stories. Genuinely believe that teaching this book should be required in every school.
If you haven't read this, read it today. Or tomorrow if it's late and you're tired.
