I really really really wanted to enjoy this. The zach narrator Will M Watt is fantastic. Such. skill.
This book is hampered by the Maddy narrator and the writing. Hart’s writing of Maddy is grating. so many cliches: gendered interior decoration, cliche grief and comments about Zack and his “little girls”, empowerment, and the two children Nancy and Stella.

Ughhhh my heart 😭🥹 Zach and Maddy might be my favorite over Belle and Rafe in this series so far. The grief of losing his wife and becoming a single parent is so real and raw. Maddy’s selflessness is unmatched and watching her heart fall more and more for him is just so warming. I loved the epilogue and love knowing that their HEA was “blessed” by his late wife.

Ehh, 3.5 ⭐. Don't get me wrong, this book was 🔥HOT🔥 I just didn't find it believable. I couldn't believe that pre-Maddy Zach was the same person as post-Maddy Zach. Just didn't really see that character "development" and it was more like a character transformation in the blink of an eye.... And I could not get on board with them actually being in love. They certainly had sexual chemistry. Their sexual escapades were fun, no doubt. But what was their relationship beyond the bedroom? Even when they tried having serious conversations, they would still think about having them in bed. Yeah, it makes for a good erotica book, but you're not selling me on the romance part, which seemed to be the end game and I think that part missed the mark.
