So these stories were clearly a response to the World War Z movie. And probably hopes for a sequel. Whilst I love any new stories added to the World War Z lore. I did not enjoy most of these. First, the addition of vampires wasn't at all necessary, and took me out. I wish he hadn't done that. I don't know. You can have zombies just existing without all kinds of other supernatural beings as well. It just felt really silly. And then adding the movie lore where the zombies ramp up walls... ugh... I hated that shit in the movie, and it was all throughout this book. It's just an ugly reminder of that shit film. And Brooks could have kept the book separate from that. Really, easily could have. Also, for someone at the level of Max Brooks. I would expect a professional editor, proofreader, and publisher. But I noticed about eight very glaring spelling errors. And two very glaring continuity mistakes. I'm kinda shocked by the lack of care put into these stories. Almost like he just wrote them, and self-published without having anyone else take a look at them first. I liked the great wall story the best out of all of these because it felt like it could have come from World War Z. But the rest were weird, and didn't fit into his narrative style, which left a bad taste in my mouth.
