Hahahahaha

This one made us laugh and giggle a lot. Our favorite parts were when professor poopypants got laughed because his name was super silly. And we had fun making up our silly names.

I'm obviously not the target audience for this series, so it seems a little silly for me to rate it at all. But these are books my most underground readers fight over, so I figured I should see why.

The hybrid illustrated format is probably most of the appeal, and I can get behind that; my students are ESL and often need the support of illustrations. I noticed, though, that the Captain Underpants series lost some of its power when my high schoolers discovered Diary of a Wimpy Kid (themes more interesting to older students) and Frank Einstein (1000% wittier). Now that I'm strengthening my selection of YA graphic novels, I may sneak this series down to a lower age group in the future.

My 4-year-old son loves these books. And I mean, for him to pay attention to any book for more than five seconds (let alone a chapter book!) is a miracle.
