It was stranger and more uncomfortable than I’d hopped humanizing president snow. The book also moved so slow for me.

This book is terrible. The only reason I didn't give this book one star is because it was weirdly fun to read, like watching a bad movie. Everything about this book was terrible, from the incredibly heavy-handed references to the original trilogy, to the over-the-top ridiculous names that literally every character had, to the half-assed attempt to make the reader feel empathy for Snow.

I want to say don't read this, but honestly, raging about how much I hated it with my book club has been too fun. Read it if you have someone to rage about it with.

A really interesting entry into the Hunger Games world. It is so intriguing to be brought back in time within such an intricately designed world, exploring the real development of the Hunger Games and the Capitol. I loved the Coriolanus Snow POV, you really get to see the development of his character. Without spoiling anything, he undergoes a real path of development and maturity - the book ending in such a twist / unexpected way. A must read for fans of the series.

It was fine. I don't regret reading it but I was hoping for more.

Pros: I loved getting the new information that tied together things from the original series and gave more depth.

Cons: I am the type of person who loves rooting for the villain but this book gave nothing to make Snow redeemable. His motivation wasn't very deep.
