Made me feel way to uncomfortable to get into the book. Not my cup of tea.

Upsetting read. There are superficial comparisons to Lolita, as they breach the same subject, but this book is much more of a laborious read due to sexual content that is markedly absent from Lolita. At no moment is the reader unaware of the sub/conscious drives that inform this predator's actions. Theres no relief from the protagonists depravity, the whole book is dedicated to her chase. The reader is painfully aware against their will of her predilections (explicitly). Her actions are premeditated, calculated, and shrewd.

Nutting does a nice job of keeping the psychopathic detachment going; however, some of the sexual obsessions were silly, and I kept waiting for the MC to have a side interest or a little depth.

So well-written, but I hated all the characters with my entire being. I'd be waving my hand at the screen in denial and disgust while continuing to scroll with the other. This book was definitely an interesting read, though, and perfect for people who are after dark, immoral stories and characters.

I don't really know how to rate this book. The subject matter is disturbing, the main character is a hot mess, and I felt like I needed to take a shower after reading this.

BUT I laughed out loud many times and I couldn't help but be invested in watching this woman's downfall. As many others have stated, if the genders were reversed, this would've been a much different story. Regardless, I enjoyed this book...maybe "enjoy" is not the right word. It left an impression, that's for sure.
