I very much enjoyed this book. I thought the characters were well written, with realistic demons, motivations and actions. Love reading about rule-breaking bad bitches getting what's theirs! Not to mention dashing Scottish & English lads and a VERY good villain! A little slow to start and I somewhat disliked the alternating points of view, purely because as soon as I was into one story (with a cliff-hanger chapter ending), it would switch to the other person!

This book made me want to get back into historical fiction and I definitely will be checking out more books by Kate Quinn!

I love women! The author's note at the very end was so interesting and it was interesting to learn that some of the characters were based on real women and their actual heroic efforts during the war. At times I did feel like Charlie's story line dragged for me and Finn seemed a little bit too stereotypical Scotsman to me but overall, I enjoyed my time with this book.

I thought this story would grab me - but it didn’t. I very quickly felt disillusioned and after 100 pages began skimming. The premise was good but the story lacked.

Kate Quinn does it again! A page turning tale of grief, endurance and second chances. I enjoyed both stories with equal measure. It was an easy weekend read for me. But sometimes it's those reads that are some of the best reads.
