I am being 100% honest when I say I mourn everyday that this will not get a second book. Back in high school and early college I used to frantically check every week for a new update and without a doubt every time there was one I was NEVER disappointed. I'll be honest when I say I have not checked to see if Tan Jiu is still uploading chapters in several years. After she got into complications with the censorship board and had to cancel the second volume and go on a hiatus I have not checked back to see if she fully discontinued the series or not.

This is legitimately one of the cutest and funniest reads I've ever had. I've never been so invested in every single character before in a piece of media and rarely have since then. This series doesn't even really have any conflicts only mild miscommunications and embarrassing high school slip-ups but that doesn't detract from it at all. It's still massively engaging and fun regardless. Also massive bonus that Tan Jiu has an absolutely beautiful art-style. The thin lines and soft pastels really capture the beauty and joys of this silly high school romance, while the over all composition and posing encapsulate the joy and energy of being energetic and purposefully annoying teenagers.

...I should read it again.

I periodically check in on these two ever since first discovering it 5+ years ago, and it remains such a sweet slice of life series. It’s still ongoing and I look forward to checking back in again later! 200 chapters or so thus far.

Sun Jing’s crush on Qiu Tong feels like it starts in such a natural and wholesome way - the way I think a lot of initially superficial crushes begin. A chance meeting with someone who makes such a strong impression on you… it’s relatable. However, unlike a typical sequence where the average person accepts they may never see them again — it was a momentary skipping of the heart — Sun Jing seeks her crush out with tenacity that is admirable. And the epitome of young confidence.

The way they both fall in love is just so good. The funny moments among their classmates and acquaintances are so heartwarming. The underlying theme of tackling loneliness is so great! The importance of community and not just romantic love but platonic love is on display.

Their first kiss still made me want to squeal just like when I was a fledgling gay teen. Sapphic romances like this hit so hard as someone who grew up around media that did not portray what was on my mind. It’s reassuring. And, of course, the intense sweetness of it all really heightens my enjoyment of it too.

I wish updates were more frequent, but as a beautifully drawn and fully colored series, it’s fantastic as it is. I wish I could put this series in the hands of every teen reading manga/manhwa who doesn’t see themselves represented in the typical straight romances. It’s beautifully done.
