Ana asked her abuela for tickets to an amusement park for her birthday but instead she got a chicken. Her disappointment may not last long, however when she sees what the chicken is planning in their backyard.

Repetition of the title throughout the story emphasizes the narrator's disappointment with her birthday chicken until the chicken builds her dream gift. This is odd all around.

A birthday present of a chicken started as unwanted gift. As the story progresses the girl discoveres the chicken is a lot of fun than she originally thought. A little on the long side so it would be better as an elementary read aloud.
