At first this was a fun read that made me feel in on all the scurrilous gossip of a well-drawn small town; but as the true nature of some of the events gradually came out the tone started to feel off. I found it hard to understand some of the characters' major decisions toward the end. It was an enjoyable enough read, and the greater insight we got into characters who seemed verging on cliche at the start was good, but it's just that the tone didn't work with some of the plot for me. Might still give some of the author's other stuff a go.
