Rereading an old favourite. It's dated, sure, but still thoroughly enjoyable. I don't think I've ever read the other books in the series, but this reread has inspired me to check them out!

I loved the film, but this book really dates itself. The constant diet talk, especially given that Bridget at her heaviest would have to be about 4 foot to be in the overweight category for BMI (which is an antiquated system created in the 1830s by a mathematician), constantly monitoring her calorie intake, which ranges from around 15 to 4,000. This made the book very unenjoyable for me, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone unless they have time travelled straight from 1996!

I read this book after having seen the movie version several times, I read the entire book and the sequel in a matter of days, they are wrote in diary form and are quite 'light' to read. There are some real laugh out loud moments and some touching moments too.

The story of Bridget Jones is at this stage familiar to most even those who haven't read the books or seen the movies. A modern day retelling of Pride and Prejudice, Bridget is a thirty-something singleton living and dating in London.

For fans of the movie versions you wont be disappointed I read most of the books with Renee Zellwegers voice in my head. I could easily picture her in the different scenarios that arise in the book that didn't make the movies.

I couldn't recommend this book more, the ultimate 'chick-lit' novel

I listened to the audio book over the past week or so, as I was packing and driving back and forth to work. I'd seen the movie, but had never read the book. I absolutely adored it and found a kindred spirit in Bridget. She made me laugh out loud numerous times, and having recently read Pride & Prejudice, I loved the way it was a subtle tribute.

I read this book nearly non-stop and was busting up laughing out loud. The writing is impeccable - there is wit on every page. Granted, the obsession on weight made me a little uncomfortable at times, but Fielding saved it with hilarious lines like: "...if only could stay under 126 lbs and not keep bobbing up and down like a drowning corpse - drowning in fat." Haha :) Hilarity is about taking things to their ridiculous extremes, and Fielding nails that. :)
