Ahhh!!! This book had me so happy with joy! Which is saying something considering it starts with a standoffish character. But I LOVED the redemption arc and seeing her experience a happily ever after.

This was a fast read, it’s fun and has a cute romance plot. The focus is mostly on Tara’s growth after an incident that leaves her ostracized from her community. Only downside was I felt that there were some things unanswered and rushed through. Like her sister was an important topic throughout the entire novel and when they finally reconnected it felt like such a small part.

This was a nice story, but it wasn’t really anything special. The pacing was very strange to me. It felt like some parts were so slow, but suddenly so much would be going on, and then it would go back to being really slow for a few chapters. I also felt that the constant references to things that happened before the book started made it hard to follow. This read kind of like a sequel in the sense that we needed to be told so much background information to even begin to understand the story.

I can see what the author was going for. The characters were interesting and some nice points were made about beliefs, identity, and the self, but I found myself wanting more. I think if the author had committed to one topic she could’ve dove very deep into it, but instead she really only scratched the surface of multiple different plots that could’ve been really great on their own.

Overall, I did like the book. It was certainly an enjoyable read, but it’s by no means a must-read. If this is on your TBR list, don’t take it off, but maybe move it a little lower.

wonderful

This book is relatable on so many levels. While I am not from the same religion I’m am sure that there are a lot of us who get where these characters are coming from. There were a couple of parts in the book where I was confused about a character but as I read on it came to me. All in all it was a great read.
