This is a personal story of Quest on creativity, that both inspired and encourages. Would do even for creatives on their own quests who know nothing about Thompson or The Roots.

โIf you have pulled all your influences inside, and you output them appropriately at the right moments or in interesting new permutations, maybe you are engaging in a highly creative act.โ
If you create/exercise creativity for a living or want to, this is a must-read. At once both practical and speculative, itโs a wonderful guided reflection on the nature of creativity, how creativity thrives or is suppressed in a commercial setting, and how to keep your own unique creative skills flourishing and growing.

Very fun book, and one that's superb in audiobook form because it's read by the author, who uses the audio format to actually MAKE it an audio experience - sound effects, dropped samples, etc. Probably great in print as well.
