How could I describe what I felt while, and after, reading this haunting story? I do not know.

This book was truly a small miracle, haunting but beautifully written story. All the hype is well-deserved but if you want to read this book, just read it without knowing what will happen.

This is so beautiful.

In the vein of The Handmaid’s Tale but not violent or consumed with evil, this book is tightly written, short, engrossing, and thought-provoking.

How do you learn to be human if you were never treated as one since early in your introduction to the world?

This book will be one that sticks with me, but it’s a nightmare. Gives me the same vibes as a long Twilight Zone episode. Ultimately asking so many existential questions.

(the broken brain part of me thought: this is the anti Ice Planet Barbarians 😂)

So sad but so captivating I found myself waking up in the middle of the night to continue reading it bc it wouldn’t leave my mind. I was hoping for a different ending but that would have changed the meaning of the book of course. Will be thinking about this for a long time.

This is unlike anything I have ever read. Dark. Mysterious. Chilling. Tragic. I am normally not the biggest fan of dystopian novels, but I really enjoyed this read. Only complaint is the chapters are sooooo long. Wish it would have been divided up a bit more into shorter chapters with all of the same content.
