Absolutely gorgeous writing, though a bit weird at times with its slow, meandering plot.

The absolute best fiction book I have read this year, if not in many years. While it certainly is not action-packed or fast-paced, the rich character development and beauty of the magical realism elements kept me turning pages late into the night. An absolutely gorgeous account of family, addiction, love, grief, community, misogyny, classism, a love letter to the importance of food/cooking within communities, and so much more. I could go on forever about how this book will stick with me for a long time.

3.5 ⭐️. So beautiful❤️ . All the characters are amazing, and you get to root for them easily. The magic system is the best thing about this world, I wish I had some! It’s long, however.

Spoiler, maybe?

The conflict wasn’t that serious and I didn’t care enough to finish the book, I knew everything was going to be alright so I stopped reading lol. I read a big chunk of it though, and had so much fun!
