This thriller has a haunting backstory, main character growth, witty banter, and left me wanting more! The plot was a bit predictable but the details were very interesting! I'm looking forward to the second book following this FMC's journey into field work with the FBI.
I usually read first person POV so this being third person omniscient was definitely a change of pace for me. The narrator primarily tells about the main character but does switch focus to the murderer and other characters a few times.

Listened on audio! It was a very suspenseful and gripping story! I didn’t know who to trust or what to believe. Ella’s character lacked some development of skill which made the story slightly unbelievable at times but it was a good listen over all

I want to start by saying that the serial killer part is fine. It was interesting and a exciting enough to justify me continuing on with reading the story in spite of all the things that annoyed me.
However.... I feel that you cannot simply write a story about an FBI agent and be completely illogical about what that is like to be one. An agent doesn't see more fellow agents die than there are episodes of Seinfeld (as worded in the book), a rookie with incomplete training (in analytics, not fieldwork) isn't sent out into the field to chase a serial killer (it was an experiment in the buro apparently!) and the rookie certainly isn't going to be the only one being able to do any solving and profiling, albeit in the end under the guidance of the nearly useless (but "legendary" and "experienced") older partner. I could go on and on. It was ridiculous and annoying.

Liked this book a lot!! It reminded me of Criminal Minds. Delving into the psychology of the serial killers and drawing up the profiles of the unsub - my favorite aspects of a thriller. The story was fast paced with a lot of action and thrill. I liked how the humility of the protagonist was also added into the story. Serial killers aren't an object of fascination and the fact that this was stressed so in the story made me like the protagonist a lot. Also Mia Ripley is so badass.
