Excuse me, what just happened?! I’m… speechless. This book was so much better than the first one for me. I get why we are all in love with Jacks now. Evangeline wasn’t as annoying. All the curses were fun. The ending and then the OTHER ending. I mean come on.

I am SO glad I didn’t read this before book three was already out because I would have been dying having to wait for it.
Ok bye. I’m reading book 3 now.

I'm actually so mad lol. I started this book June 12th and finished it today on July 18th. 37 days. Granted, I didn't read this book everyday for 37 days, but it was still painful. I had to renew this book on Libby TWICE. I wouldn't have finished it if I couldn't renew it, but I guess I got lucky.

The first half of this book was so slow, boring, and pointless. I would've DNF'd but I had FOMO big time for this book. I kept hearing the ending was crazy and even if I didn't like the book, I wanted to know what the ending was to make people so upset. So even if I hadn't been able to renew my hold on Libby, I know I would've eventually finished this book just to see what happened.

I managed to get to around the halfway point yesterday and wow things finally started happening! And so I was finally able to finish this book.

Yes, the ending was crazy. Unfortunately, I am interested in the conclusion to this series but not because it's good. In fact, I find Evangeline and Jacks' dynamic so cringe and that's part of the reason the first half of this book was so hard to read. But just call me boo boo the fool I guess. A crazy ending doesn't make up for a bad book. You can't end your book on a cliffhanger like this to get people to read the next book and think that'll make people forget how boring most of this book was.

1.5 stars. 0.5 for the ending making me want to read the third book even though I don't like these books but c'mon.
