I read the ENTIRETY of the Heartstopper series within a 24-hour period. So, I want to make my reviews short and sweet and highlight the parts I adored. I want to say, throughout each volume, I instantly fell in love with Alice Oseman and her writing and illustrations. They are incredible.
Volume Two: I adored this installment as well. The love and care that Oseman put into exploring Nick's own bisexuality and crush on Charlie felt so real and personal. How the two explore their relationship between each other and Nick's anxiety about coming out publicly. We see more of how Charlie feels on this topic and his own story of his 'coming out' (more so being outed) and how Charlie doesn't want that same thing to happen to Nick. Heartwarming and lovely.

This is all about self-discovery and I love it so much. It's all about the feelings, showing affection and building a relationship. True, the story is not amazing or filled with wonderful details or an amazing narrative, but the portrayal of a relationship that is mutual, reciprocated and healthy is just spot on.
The fact that Alice is against nsfw is really meaningful. It show you can create a very relatable comic without needing to sexualize your characters. Nick wanting to stop hanging with his friends is marvelous, although there is a tiny speck of disagreement because he kinda does it for Charlie rather than himself. I think it was a good choice, but maybe it would have been better to imply it was more a "me" choice.
Anyway, Charlie is really supportive about Nick and how to call himself or when to come out which is really amazing. I will be sad when I finish the next volume.
