As a nurse, mom, and sister of someone who has drug addictions, this book was very interesting. This brings up many conversations about how opioids are handled in our society. The story did get a big long winded in the middle but overall it was well done. There are a lot of conversations in this book that is relatable to young people today. I would recommend this to anyone close to high school age and up.

Eh.

This isn’t a book that’s going to stick with me forever. Even while reading it, I would forget small details so if you’re looking for that, this isn’t it. However, I think it could easily be because this is more relatable to younger audiences. I think the characters being in high school made me not able to connect therefore, I didn’t care as much.

I don’t blame the author for this at all. I think I would have enjoyed this much more had I read it 6-7 years ago! I do think that it handled addiction in a very respectful way and shows just how it can affect the families and the people surrounding the person with the problem. I also think it shows some pretty good character growth with our main girl Emory!

This book had all the emotions. Sometimes I was irritated and felt that the main character was a bit too "childish" but after all I liked it a lot. In the end I even loved it. It is such an honest and raw description of addiction. It really should be read by young people as it helps you understand people who are in different situations than you.
