I listened to the Audiobook book of this, read by the author, and it was excellent. The book was a cozy read, although it did get tense at times and there was a prolonged scene w a fire, so check the CW.  There was plenty if mystery and just enough adventure to keep things interesting while still being a relaxing read.

The MC has had enough of adventuring and quite literally hangs up her sword in the interest of opening a coffee shop in a new town.  She quickly needs to make friends with some locals to help make her dream a reality and somw friendships blossom into more.

There is a wide variety of characters of lots of different fantasy races and many offer nods to the existence of real world racism as the characters all kind of acknowledge having dealt with prejudice in their pasts.

The characters all form heartwarming bonds, sometimes where you least expect it, and the MC finds there is more to life than adventuring and coffee.

And there is a giant cat!

Cute concept! I thought it was fun to see how the menu progressed with products familiar to us but novel in the story’s world.

This comforting book is an easy weekend read. Nothing too thought-provoking but something good to escape in for a little. Brownie points for a sapphic love story as a side plot. Great for those who are interested in a cozy D&D-inspired story.

This story was just so cozy and sweet. It is a clean, slow burn sapphic romantasy that focuses more on Viv's desire to open a thriving coffee business after retiring than on anything else. We meet several fun and quirky characters such as Cal, Thimble, Amity, Pendry, and Hemmington. Tandri and Viv have this really soft and gentle chemistry where they just click together. Towards the end of the audiobook, Baldree was painting such warm scenes with these two that everything seemed to softly glow in my mind's eye.

I adored this. There's a reason it has so many good reviews.

If I wasn't so fucking tired from staying up late to reas this book, I'd probably be sobbing. Truly fantastic book for anyone who loves the found family trope. Very manageable high fantasy for anyone who might need an introduction (or a convincing) to that genre.
