Legend, by M.R. Leahy

Tarzan as a whole is difficult for me, it was my moms favorite movie, and my sister and I have lyrics from the movie tattooed on our arms in her memory.

Going into Legend by M.R Leahy which is the sinister tale based off of Tarzan, I had a lot of anxiety and pretty high hopes.

I’m not super thrilled with the way Legend turned out. I was hoping this would stay closer to the original, but instead of gorillas we got wolves. Wolves are great don’t get me wrong, but I was rootin’ for some monkeys.

The overall story line was alright. It didn’t really grip me or hold my attention well. Even though it took me so long to read it, I feel like the story kind of rushed along.

I would have liked more backstory on Janey, and a little more in-depth about everyone’s life before the curse.

I don’t think I’d recommend this one, unfortunately. It just didn’t do it for me.

So this a short tale in the sinister fairy tales collection.
This one is influenced by The Tarzan and Jane Legend and while it didn't wow me I certainly enjoyed it.
The writing itself is good but I just never fully connected on any deeper level.
So this story is set in the jungle and it's all about a cursed island full of shapeshifters and humans who live in the trees. a prophecy, fated mates and a chosen one.
It's short and sweet and lacks depth but it was still somewhat interesting with some hot and heavy
scenes.
We have a half shifter/human Prince Karzan the son of the former king and his human mate.
He has been hidden away all his life among the humans to protect him from his crazed uncle the king.
Janey is the chosen one destined to break the curse and unlock his beast.
This is insta-love and insta-lust and the finale easily arrived it.
I also felt I never really got a real sense of Karzan and Janey beyond the superficial.
This was an easy quick read that didn't tax me and my first Tarzan retelling.
I voluntary reviewed a copy of Legend.

This is the retelling of Tarzan but with a twist. I love this version of it. It’s dark and gritty and super sexy. The story is just so good.

Another retelling fairy tale, this time Tarzan, not my all favorite one but I do enjoy the story. I liked as always the dark theme this series gives the stories. The hot scenes and romance that makes it way better than the children's version. Can't wait to see what story comes up next, I am liking these so much.

A bit (lot?) of a "me not you" situation because technically there wasn't anything wrong with the technical writing, plot or pace, but this just didn't engage me emotionally. It's quite a short read and felt more Lion King than Sinister Fairy Tale but it's still a decent read and well worth trying for yourself.

It took too long, in my opinion, for the H and h to meet and I know they are fated mates and I know they had dreamed of one another BUT there was no attempt to develop any other type of connection between them. It was all just very instant (as in next second instant) and I'm just one of those PITA readers who needs convincing of a bond.

The story was nicely written and easy to follow, the world building was decent, though I didn't care for the overuse of the F word - it didn't fit the low technology setting. I expect the word in Mafia, MC and even contemporary romance but it felt jarring here. However it's a fairly minor thing and I'm sure many of you would disagree on that

A genius twist on the Tarzan tale, Legend provoked vivid imagery in my mind and proved to be a gritty, gripping read.

Paranormal lovers will be delighted and I believe this story will appeal to those who normally don’t read this genre, due to the main characters being so identifiable. Many will know the tale of Tarzan, but I loved this take on it. Shifters vs humans and the gods being in control of destiny, provided many wow moments and the chemistry positively sizzled between Karzan and Janie, when they finally met. Fast paced, this story had me glued to my kindle and I finished it one sitting.

Legend is another fabulous addition to the Sinister Fairytales Collection which is proving to be an outstanding collection of stories.

This fairytale retelling/reimaging was everything I could have imagined. Karzan is the hidden prince and true king of the jungle, but he doesn't know this until the chosen one comes of age. Janey has taught all her life that she was special and destined to do great things. This play on the Tarzan and Jane story kept me on the edge of my seat from the very first page. I loved this experience and looked forward to reading more books from this author.

I think the best place to start this review is to say that I have never actually read the original Fairy Tales. I know the Disney versions well. If you have read any of the other books in the Sinister Fairy Tales Collection you will already know that these are absolutely nothing like the Disney versions of these tales. So once I finish this collection, I think it's time to read the original Fairy Tales.

This is story is a little harder to guess from it's title. This is a retelling of Tarzan, with a paranormal twist. Karzan has lived on a dark island for his entire life. Having a weird dream about a woman he has never met. Janey has lived her life in the outside world. She has heard all about an island with a curse on it and a prophecy to release their curse. She to has had a weird dream about, of all things, a wolf. Janey's father gives her everything he has for her 18th birthday in the form of a ship so she can go look for this island.

Karzan is a strong alpha male character. With strong morals and the will to take care of his people. Janey, while a little bit annoying when it comes to the sexy scenes, is a woman with ambition and willingness to put aside her fear for the good of Karzan's people. This book was a quick and enjoyable read.

What an amazing re-telling to this fairy tale. As with all the stories in this collection we get a darker version. This is a short and no sweet re-telling of Tarzan and Jane. The little twist the author puts in was a fantastic idea in my mind.
Karzan and Janey's story was written in the stars long before they came to be. What happens when two souls destined to be together finally unite? The legend has been written in the stars, and for many moons, and many have waited to see if what the Gods have said will come true. I'm telling you, you do not want to miss out on a love as true as theirs. Their destiny is a beautiful story that everyone should read.
