Do I have thoughts? Yes. Are most uncoherencible gibberish? Also yes.

This man was a better mad scientist than Victoria Frankenstien that is for sure!

Really well out thought invisibility I have to add that. I will let you know that it is bloody hard to write proper invisible humans with all of their pros and cons being acknowledged.

I also really liked the tone of the narrator.

It was just fine. Took me wayy too long to read even though it's less than 200 pages. I just didn't have as much fun with it as I was hoping to. Might also be the fact that I am still getting out of a reading slump...

This is a great book for people who enjoy mysteries or classic horrors! This book was published in 1897, the same year horror classic Dracula was published. This book focuses on the invisible man himself, and the main mystery is his motivation - no one understands why he does what he does until the end. It’s a short, fun read for those interested in this type of book!

The main character just isn't very interesting aside from his invisibility. I understand why it's a classic, but I didn't enjoy reading it.

I am glad I read this knowing it was published in serialized form. It reads like the 19th century book version of Jack Bauer's "24" - intro, climax, cliffhanger -  repeated over and over again with zero character development. Some reviewers have compared it to Jekyll & Hyde but I have not read that one. To me it gave Frankenstein vibes, except Griffin (THE invisible man) was both Dr. Frankenstein and "the monster." Unfortunately, the lack of character development meant that as a reader I had zero empathy for Griffin as "monster" because his motivations as scientist were never really explained. One thing I did enjoy in this book that Frankenstein did not have was the bits of humor.

We still had an interesting discussion at book club but everyone agreed that overall this book was just ok.
