Oral history isn't my favorite format, but this is such important history to know.

Started off really strong, but by the last section and conclusion it lost steam and fizzled out.

Super interesting and informative but long... So much was included, and I think much of it needed to be included, but I wonder if some sections could have been pared down a bit. The jumping around from one perspective to another also led to some repetitiveness.

I also had some issues with the audiobook, primarily the edits, which were bounded by gaps and noticeably different in volume/sound quality. There were also a number of very oddly pronounced words, or compound words broken up, which were a bit of a jolt each time.

I think having a physical copy of the book would have made following the different chronologies easier.

Those issues aside, this was so educational and touching at the same time, very valuable for sure.

So glad I finally read this book. A powerful history.
The organization didn’t always make sense, and I wish certain things had been covered more thoroughly. But this is a feat.
