This is the author that has most helped me find the stories I love to read. He always sings the praises of other writers. It's fitting that he has w itten this essay.

This will be a short review.

I liked this book a lot. Each writer's hymn to the joys of reading is different. Each is interesting in its own way. The way reading weaves in with their own lives or the lives of others.

It also provides more suggestions for reading too.

So, I suspect if you have a reader in your life or you are a reader - which being that you're on Good Reads seems to be a given - this might make a good gift. In a good cause too.

This was supposed to be "luminous" and coming from Robert Macfarlane, I believed it and bought it. But I was in for a big disappointment. This was just basically, "someone gave me a book and I liked it, so I started giving away tons of books to others." This should have been free on his website or somewhere.

A short endearing account of a friendship between academics in which several texts on naturalism, travel and observation of the wild are mentioned. There are also some brief reflections on the meaning of the gifts, which are more or less interesting.

A lovely essay on something all of us here at Goodreads probably agree, the best gift is a book.

Beautifully written. Tells about walking and people who are walking to find themselves in order to fix their struggles. Don deserves the reading itself. I gifted to a friend my copy to be loyal to the aim of the book.
