It’s clambake time again when the local town has a big summer festival and Julia Snowden’s family and their catering company are set up on the pier to cook for hundreds. But when things go wrong and a body is discovered, she’ll have to work to clear one of her employees—a new hire who immediately flees after the body is found underneath the cooking equipment. My favorite thing about this series is it’s so deeply rooted in Maine culture. Each book is like taking a mini vacation to Maine with descriptions of clambakes (so much food!), town festivals with races out in the harbor running over lobster traps, and much more. This had an interesting mystery to piece out.

Book 2 and I'm starting to get invested in the characters - hoping book 3 is when I get hooked. In this story, Julia whines about her relationship, the town, and the clambake - everyone else steps up for her (even though she's supposedly the strong and smart one). I want more fun less whine. The new characters added to the story and I hope they are still with us for book three.

Loved this book and the characters. The story kept me guessing till the heroic end. It ends on a relationship cliffhanger and I cannot wait to dive into the next!

A pretty good mystery. I loved how more of the characters and the social atmosphere of Busman's got fleshed out. I wasn't crazy about the back and forth timeline, though. Ross' opening on the immediate finding of the dead body was meant to be action filled, but with the constant flash backs, it just got confusing and lengthy. I wanted to know why these characters were important now, not later through the flashback. It would have been so simple to sum up the "past" scenes in two-three chapters before the death reveal. Also, I would have enjoyed the book much more if there wasn't this drama over Chris. I still don't get why he's important or interesting?

Another solid entry in the Maine Clambake mystery series! I love these books that keep me going back & forth between who the killer is. No sooner do I make my mind up, then another twist comes in to make me change it!

I was right smack dab in the middle of reading this second installment in the Maine Clambake series, when a new release from my library became available (I was on the wait list and needed/wanted to grab that one), so I paused in my reading of this one. I am convinced that if I had not interrupted the flow, that I would have totally figured out whodunnit! As it was, it felt like it was right on the tip of my tongue, but happily, I was kept guessing until the end. I'm enjoying seeing and learning about Maine through the author's eyes, and I'm loving Julia and the cast of characters more with each cozy mystery. Two thumbs up!

Thoroughly enjoyed this little cozy mystery! I enjoyed getting to know Julia a little more. I find her a very likable character. There is so much about the setting that speaks to me, having been born and raised in New England. What I found especially enjoyable, though, was the actual mystery. It didn't feel forced or overly contrived or cloying, the way some cozies do. I loved all the little strands, the way the characters were woven together, how the pieces fit together. I didn't figure out whodunnit until right as it was being revealed, although I did see a couple of the twists coming. Regardless, it was still fun to see it all come to light. Suffice to say, I'm hooked on this series and really looking forward to reading more of it.
