I am a fan

Seriously,n too invested in this high drama, rich kids world where lies, and facade are the oxygen to breathe. I am going to jump into book 2 and just read the book.

With every single story that I’m reading by the author, I’m getting more and more in love with her writing and characters.
This one is no exception at all and all the banter, the characters and so many layers to unveil with each page just made me want to read it quickly so I can read their happily ever after.
Yes, it ends in a cliffhanger but every great story has to overcome a lot in her path.

My first book from Gemma and she had me hooked on this intense story throughout. The smoke and mirrors that have surrounded Tallulah most of her life made for gripping reading. The things people do for money are obscene and the life that has been bestowed on Tallulah is heart-breaking. I loved her spirit, despite being dealt the worst hand possible, the growth in her from start to finish of the book had me cheering her on throughout. And that ending! I’m now itching to start the next book.

Arlo can’t stand that Carrigan is paraded around like a showboat, everyone eating it up, but something is different about her tonight, she’s afraid and not acting normal, normally he’s not interested in Carrigan, but this different version is turning him on.
Tallulah knows one thing that Arlo hates her, or he hates Carrigan, but she can’t help the mix of desire and fear that she’s reacting with. Tallulah quickly learns that her parents don’t care they want her to do whatever it takes to make sure that Arlo will marry Carrigan no matter what the cost, because she’s only the spare it’s her sister the will inherit the fortune that her parents want.
Having had enough and not doing what her sister wants Tallulah slips and Arlo finds out she’s not Carrigan and he wants answers, but also sees the perfect way to make sure that the families understand he doesn’t want to marry Carrigan. Although he quickly learns that Tally is nothing like her sister.
Tully realises that her family doesn’t care about her at all or she wouldn’t be able to be blackmailed by Arlo in his plan. Tully knows she can’t get out of the plan that Arlo has set in place, even his friends can’t get him to stop, he thinks everything will be ok because she’s an Archibald but is he right or wrong.

Ever heard the phrase “heir and a spare?” It usually refers to royalty but with this book, it refers to the mega wealthy, old money Archibald family. There’s some clause in dear old granddaddy’s will that states the heir inherits EVERYTHING. Problem is, the heir is the great granddaughter, and skips gramps son and grandson completely. There are stipulations and the family turns everything upside down to meet them.
Tallulah lives in the shadows to help her twin meet these standards. No one even knows she exists. She fills in for Carrigan any time she’s needed, even if she has her own things to do, like school. One day though, someone realizes there are twins and Tallulah can no longer live in the shadows.
Opinion
Ok, I admit I’ve always been interested in the twins changing places concept. Add in that Tallulah has no importance in her family beyond helping her sister achieve the stipulations in the will and I’m sold on this book.
The two sisters couldn’t be less alike. Tallulah is closer to being down to earth and humble whereas Carrigan knows her importance and flaunts it. Add in Arlo who comes from a wealthy family himself, is hot as sin and takes charge to shake things up in the twins family and this book spells winner to me.
This book ends in a massive cliffhanger so be prepared to run out and get book two as soon as it’s released.
Many thanks to Bare Naked Words for providing me with a copy of this book so I could review the second book.
