I didn't enjoy the twist and turns in this one as much, I didn't want a triangle (though I do like Nadira), and the ending irritated me. I love this universe but the greed subplot was cliche.

Truly Kenneth Oppel knocks it out of the park again and I'm so sad that I don't have any middle schoolers in my life to recommend this book to. If I had read this series as a middle schoolers it would've absolutely became my entire personality. Matt Cruise is loveable but far from perfect, he's dealing with a complex web of problems as 16 year olds often do while being,, actually 16. He's jealous and self conscious and worried about not being man enough or rich enough for the girl he loves. At the same time he's brave and caring and smart and quick witted and cares deeply for the people around him. The cast of characters is such a good mix of personalities, goals, passions, and life experiences and the story is fun and engaging.

Lovely adventure yarn.

I continue to enjoy this great adventure series, and I love main characters Matt and Kate.

Not as good as the first book, but a quick and fun read just the same. Would have liked a bit more information on Nadira, and I was disappointed to find out that she's not in the third book. However, Skybreaker scratched my itch for a vaguely steampunk story.

Well done

So much fun!
