Of all the books I've read for this series thus far, this one starts with tension and then feeds you tension throughout. Good gosh. And I appreciate that the smut came with a good deal of kink in this one. It was a delight. Though my nervous system is still trying to recover from the tension, that's all I'm saying. I also feel that I appreciated the characters more than I have the others (not that the previous weren't likable), the flaws, the fact that not everything gets resolved quickly, or even as easily, as most people think complicated romances do.

Some important notes that bear mentioning: first, reviews are highly subjective, including mine. My opinion is meant to give an overview of what I saw/felt when I read it (and how it may or may not have made my brain explode). What I see might not be what you see, and what I like (or don't) might not be what you enjoy, which is just fine. My advice to anyone looking into a book? Read the premise, and if it interests you enough, give it a chance and form your own opinion.

I could see what she was going for with the big political worldbuilding stuff but the book didn't deliver very well on it.
