Book vs movie
Movie is Better in my opinion than the book the book is very confusing and slow But the movie you can actually put a Face to the characters

The young adult, medical romantic books are superb these days, feel addicted to them! Generally the too sad ones get me down but loved this one despite the ending. A simple yet powerful story, fast paced, unputdownable book.

This book was both heartbreaking and heartwarming to read. I appreciated that although this is a romance novel, the love interest did not become the main character's whole world. It may come across as a bit cheesy at times, but I enjoyed it all the same. I laughed, I cried, and, most importantly, I always wanted to read more. What did you think?

Wow. I had no idea what to expect from this book, but it was absolutely brilliant.

It started of as the most beautiful, awkward, cringey, cheesy, adorable love story ever. I was completely in love with the two characters and everything was perfect. But then the ending came along and shattered my heart into tiny pieces and it was so sad and just ASDFGHJkjsdhfsidf I can't deal!!!

Katie is an awesome protagonist. Her character felt so real and honest, the way she overcame obstacles and triedd to fit in despite all the odds that were stacked against her... It was incredible! I also lived the way she expressed herself through her music. It was so great to see the ways she coped with her situation and her character was so perfect I can't even!

And then there's Charlie. Oh my goodness! There was so much more depth to him than I originally expected, his journey from the start of the book to the end was incredible to see. He was so funny, sweet, caring, and also awkward. He and Katie were absolutely perfect together!

Yes, it was cliche. Yes it was cheesy. Yes I loved it. No regrets! I highly recommend to lovers of corny YA romance novels!

Try putting a little more faith in yourself and your fellow humans, and our infinite capacity to love and forgive each other in spite of our shortcomings.

Oh boy.

This book was a whole adventure. It started with me watching the Japanese movie it was based on, Taiyō no Uta. It was not a masterpiece, but definitely a sweet, tragic movie about a girl living her life at her fullest despite having an awful disease. I'm glad that movie was made, especially in Japan, where this disease is more common that in other places; it brought attention to it, and it had a very strong, beautiful ending. As I said, I really appreciated the movie, so much that I didn't even think twice on I should watch the newest version too.

That was my mistake.

I decided to read the book instead of watching the movie first, because I'm a nerd like that, and because I have a really hard time watching movies. Second mistake. I don't know where to begin talking about this book. I've read some very good novelizations, so I can assure you that it was not that what made this bad. Oh well, maybe not just that (the movie is actually better, but not that much). It was just... everything. Since the very few pages I knew I was going to hate it: the writing is simplistic and childish, just like the protagonist. It gets worse, especially with the love interest: Charlie could have been a smiling doll and it would have made no difference.

The final was the worst thing, and the thing I hate the most about this book/movie; it gives an awful message that contradicts the original movie's spirit. Don't be like me and just stick with Taiyō no Uta.
