IMO, this was the best novel in the series so far, and I admit I wasn't expecting that.
I always wondered what Lan's book was going to be like, considering what we'd seen of him so far, but not in my wildest dreams did I expect Lan to be the one to put in the most effort by far.

That's right, ladies and gents. Landon King is the most attentive man of the bunch. He does literally so much to make Mia comfortable outside their sexual activities (which are decidedly not comfortable). He is a lot like Jeremy - he partakes in Mia's hobbies; he feeds and performs aftercare; he literally transforms his entire space for her, piece by piece. And then he transforms himself. Unlike any of the previous male leads, Landon actively works on changing himself--not just in the context of his lover but also in the context of his loved ones. He realizes he can't go on the way he always did if he wants to keep her--and, by extension, them--and then he changes. He doesn't become a different person, but he changes the way he has been using his gifts and becomes a better person for it. And I don't know, I think that's beautiful.

Mia is also my favorite female lead so far. This girl has so much spunk. She stood toe to toe with Landon the entire way, and never did she compromise on who she was or let him snuff her light. And I love Landon for listening. For not trying to change anything about her. I have felt so far in the series that the girls were at a disadvantage. That all of them "learned" to shut down and change some things in order for the men in their lives to be happy. I didn't feel that here. Moreover, Mia held Landon accountable. There were consequences for his actions and his general behavior, which is what forced him to take a second look at himself, to begin with. Much of this book is about Landon proving to Mia that he can be what she needs, and I loved that.

I also loved them together. Despite Landon's psycho status, there was something very domestic about everything from the start. Something that made the little haunted house into an actual house.

The only gripe I had with the novel, to be honest, is the one I always have - the villain. As always, a shallow cardboard character with little to no hints about them. I feel like Kent tried to sprinkle some more "cause" behind this villain's villainy, but since it amounted to 2 throwaway lines in their evil monologue, it really felt empty.
I definitely didn't like how they made Maya into an accomplice. That girl loves her sister, and taking all that away for a cheap "shock" honestly felt unnecessary. But if we already went there, I wish there was more on their healing. Maya was a kid and got stuck in the mindset of being a kid--just like Mia was. It doesn't make what Maya did in the present any better, but Maya was also willing to get shot for Mia, so I feel like we can give this relationship more than a few throwaway lines in the epilogue. Especially since we are not going to get a book for her.

Also, like, the men of the previous books... what's up? Why are you doing what you're doing? You have to see the hypocrisy of it all, right? Right?....

God of Ruin features Landon, a psychopathic sculptor, and Mia, a nonverbal mafia princess turned muse with a darkness of her own. This MMC has already had a very large presence in the series, not only as the lead instigator of the rivalry but the cause of bumps in the road for ALL of the other couples' relationships. He does however have somewhat of a redemption arc, helping Mia  fight her way through her past trauma and regain her life. The third act reveal in this book didn’t quite land for me; it felt a little anticlimactic and didn’t blend in with the rest of the story as well as some of the other ones in the series.

Horrible book. The writing is mediocre and a complete replica of the rest of the books in the series. Apart from the main character, the rest of the characters are predictable and hard to love. Slow paced because some of the internal monologues (especially Landon's) are incredibly repetitive to the point where it gets boring. The plot in of itself is not only repetitive but predictable and unentertaining, the only contrast is Mia's backstory which adds interst to the story. The ending left much to be desired, it felt rushed and, in my opinion, was not thoroughly resolved. Honestly, we know what we sign up for when we read a smut book like this, but this book doesn't even meet those standards. This felt like a complete copy paste of the rest of the series, incredibly underwhelming and overall boring.

aaaaand… this was another “psychopathic” rich white guy with antisocial behavior who tried so hard to be edgy but was just corny af.

this was the same recycled tropes from the previous books in the series, but just more awful, terrible, ableist, and misogynistic. not only that, landon and mia’s relationship was just so fucking boring. literally copy-and-pasted from her previous books. not only were they boring, the whole book itself was boringgggggg to the point of tears.

the way landon only viewed women as holes to be used made me want to throw him off a cliff jfc he was so much more disgusting and insufferable than any other rk mmc. he is not capable of loving and the fact that rk tried so hard to make it seem like he loved mia, it’s not possible. he’s so full of himself to even try to be in love with someone and i felt so bad for mia in the beginning. until i didn’t. after that stupid ass “plot twist”, she chose him over her literal twin sister. now, mia can also fuck off.

like name a better duo than rk and ruining female relationships for no good reason then not resolving it properly, namely in this book: mia and maya. i’ll never forgive her for doing that to them and to so many other fmcs. she’s such a misogynistic loser :)

if maya sokolov has a million fans, then i am one of them. if maya sokolov has ten fans, then i am one of them. if maya sokolov has only one fan then that is me. if maya sokolov has no fans, then that means i am no longer on earth. if the world is against maya sokolov, then i am against the world.

the only part of the books i enjoyed were gareth, killian, and nikolai’s bond with maya and mia <3

rk needs to come up with some new ideas at this point if every mmc is going to be the same. i have no idea how landon is her favorite, he was the most boring. *big yawn*

This is probably my least favorite of the series so far. Which I was expecting, but it is still a good book.

As expected I still didn't like Landon all that much. He's still not my favorite character in the world. But I did like him and Mia together.

I love that he was willing to see things from her perspective and to try learning empathy for her. And I love that he helped her find her voice after the traumatic experience from her childhood. And I loved how much stronger Mia became and how she came more into herself with him.

I'm excited to get into God of Fury next and to finally get Brandon and Nikolai's story after all the teasers of them featured in the previous books.

Dec 13th - Resumed

The only reason I decided to finish this book was bcoz I didn't want to carry it over to the new year.

Anyways this book was such a snoozefest. Honestly the main reason for me to dnf it was because I couldn't take that man and his dick obsession. It was like if he didn't mention his dick atleast once in every chapter, his story wouldn't have been complete. 🙄
Also the way he was said to be a psychopath, I mean the author, he himself n the character called him that but the characterstics of a psychopath was none existent. And the way RK tried to portray him as Walmart ver of Connor Cobalt wanted to make me jump of a hill.

I got nothing against Mia. She was OK. I just didn't expect her to be opposite to what I thought she was. Also the way she went after Landon for revenge but after that one scene, the revenge was literally forgotten and the way the book was called enemies to lovers trope was also misleading.

That twist in the last chapter was so ridiculous n half assed. Also RK's hate for her female characters needs to be study. Like she literally ruined two sisters relationship as a plot device just to make the male lead come out as a hero n only person helping Mia was weird.

I hate how everyone treated Maya. Like she was just a child when all that happened n it was traumatising for her too. Also she was getting manipulated by a sick person. She didn't deserve to be treated so badly.

Honestly if this is the the definition of favouritism for RK, I wish she never has any favourite characters just so she couldn't ruin them like she did Landon n give them a decent story.

Only good thing abt this book for me was NikoBran. The way their crumbs ate.

Now that NikoBran's book is out n I finished this after reading their book n seeing Landon's personality transplant, I have to say GOR  should have been released after GOF. 🤷🏽‍♀️
