Fans will love this, but those who do not know her might find it lacking a bit. I was hoping for more real life Patti (love, friendships, politics) but I still enjoyed the behind the scenes stories. There was a lot about her I did not know.

What a beautiful, heartfelt, and authentic love letter to theater! It has really inspired me to want to get back into theater! Back into being a fan but mostly I’m itching to join a community theater or something…. Probably not but a girl can dream… also i think i need to watch Gypsy… they got any recordings anywhere?

I'll keep this short and sweet. This book was everything I had hoped it would be: pure, unapologetic Patti LuPone. I loved the stories and anecdotes she told and the conversational way she tells them. But more than anything, I loved re-living these theatrical experiences with her, both good and bad. For all the "diva" reputation that she (probably rightly) has, her passion and enthusiasm for her craft and the theatrical community in general are the qualities the book leaves me with most strongly. An unbiased look back at her theatrical career? Absolutely not! (Three words: Andrew Lloyd Weber) Engrossing and hilariously honest? And then some : )
