I liked the plot and art, but everything happened so fast I couldn't connect with any of the characters or their journeys.

Got hooked first on the anime, binged watched in 2 days, and read the entire remaining series in manga in about 3 days.

Shonen storyline about brotherhood, faith, duty, friendship, yet still having female characters full of depth and emotions. Everyone has a potentially heart-rending backstory, whether a hero or a villain. It's a story populated by PEOPLE. The art isn't the most amazing, often rough, even cartoonish, and yet conveys so much humanity and humor and tragedy.

Highly recommended.

I have to admit, that I started my Demon Slayer journey with the anime back in 2021 or 2022. I don't really remember the exact year. I know I saw a lot of pics, gifs and short videos about the anime, but I was sceptical at first. I was like no way anything can top my Naruto fandom - I'm so glad I gave in, because I found my ultimate favorite anime show of all time: this is not just a simple shounen, this one is a fantasy-horror story with lots of gore.

So after the 3rd season finished a few weeks ago, I was really sad (though the season was awesome). Who knows when the next season will air? I thought okay, maybe I should read the manga, that's why I only started it now, and I have to say, this was a pretty fast read. Though I knew the story, it didn't bore me at all, kept it's edge, it was still exciting. Finishing the first volume just gave me the feel for a season 1 rewatch, and I'm not sure I wont do it.

But enough of this chitchat. Tanjiro is a great character, he is a warmhearted, brave kid, who tries to save his sister in a brutal world where human-eating demons are alive. He has a long way to go, but we can catch a glimpse in this volume how hard working he is. The worldbuilding is great, it starts slowly (just like character development too), there's not much information given, only the absolute necessary, and that is okay. So all in all, I really liked this first volume.
