A beautiful book about girlhood written in wonderful and very accessible poetic prose. Written in a series of vignettes, some of which I liked more than others. I enjoyed the use of a choral 'we' to exaggerate the idea of the collective. That being said, it lacked a little in intimacy and specificity because of this choice.
It is still a lovely read about growing up a a girl from immigrant families in Queens NYC, wonderfully inclusive if maybe a little over-simplified.

Wow. The universal experience of brown girls summed in poetic verses.
This book will stick with me.
