This book doesn't have an ending. It just cuts off.

Not Tijans best

Felt like we missed some crucial part of the story early on, and definitely dragged in places. As always in Tijan books, the female friendships were weird and problematic

Auuugh be aware this ends with a cliffhanger and you will need the second part (assuming you like it more than I do, it’s a little dark for my taste.)

Broken & Screwed 1 Review

Couple: Hunt & Alex

Author: Tijan

Tropes: enemy to lovers, tragic past, coming of age

Review: This duet from Tijan is the perfect coming of age and second-chance romance for sports fans. The books center around Alex and Hunt who are inexplicably tied together through the tragic death of Alex’s brother Ethan and their parents. The books are written from Alex’s POV only and have significant development throughout the two books regarding her mental health, inner strength and self-awareness.

In  part 1, the relationship between Hunt and Alex is toxic and unhealthy. They are both leaning on each other to get over Ethan’s abrupt death and using each to temporally forget Hunt is portrayed as a womanizer in this book and many ugly traits are brought out regarding him and Alex.

At the same time, Alex has a lot of huge things going on at home and with her friends in book 1. We see her pull away from a lot of social events and then see how hard she takes it when her parents leave her but prioritize Hunt’s basketball games in college. The conflict of Alex and Hunt in book 1 is tragic since both characters are obviously tied together but neither can provide what the other wants. We see Hunt begin to question the relationship  between Alex and her parents in toward the end of the book when he notices the disconnect in communication between them at one of his games. This opens the door for his concern and Alex’s hesitancy to open which to me was the beginning of the end for book 1.

Shortly after Alex sees Hunt for the last time, we learn that her parents have gone away. The struggle she faces with this is the last big plot change in the books and set the precedent for book 2. The books end with Alex being accepted to Grant West and deciding to confront Jesse Hunt for the secrets he kept from her.

This book is perfect for anyone who loves the angst of high school and coming of age romance with a twist. Hunt and Alex end this book on a bitter note and we hurt for her and all she had been through.

Rating: 4/5, short and tragic with a major cliffhanger

I listened to this on audio and it is such a whirlwind. I was a bit confused about all the characters in the beginning. However, when I got into it I loved this book so much. It is not a light read though, it is a heavy one. It deals with loss and heavy subjects. Loved the drama and don't forget the sports. I love how the characters grow and change. I really can't wait to dive into the next one after that ending.

Um, what was that? I didn't feel anything after reading this book except relief, I think. Relief that it was over. Now why did even attempt to finish this? Because, well, let's admit it, it was hooking and it'll keep you intrigued (hence 2 stars). But as for the story and characters? Um, not for me.
ME- now something will happen... oh, half the book is left, no worries now it'll take a major climb... why isn't anything happening yet.... what does the author want to convey.... what the hell is going on...well, anything can happen in the last couple of chapters... hmm... then, BAM NOTHING.
There's a sequel which will probably turn the nothing into something. But am I gonna take the risk? Nope. Nada. Never.
I didn't like the romance (it was built up solely on a physical level. That was how it was supposed to be, but that doesn't work for me.) The characters didn't feel real. The story was dark. It never made me smile... not once.
Now these things are certainly important for me, so this book didn't do it for me.
