I feel like I'm being really harsh but this just did not do it for me...every plot point - loose at best - fell short. There was no tension, no interest, no sense of foreboding which I thought would come naturally with such a scary concept like the Memory Police. I understand the intent behind keeping the reader as in-the-dark as the narrator, but it ended up making me really bored. The consensus among people who didn't love this book seems to be "great concept, lackluster execution" and I totally agree.
