this was a good read, albeit i did find the amount of time spent on the main battle to be a bit much. it felt repetitive since there was a lot of back and forth where it was a lot of fighting with Percy being the main focus of it all and not a whole lot else. i think having more build up for a final battle would have been better, rather than have ~50% of the book be battle scenes.

i liked that the ending tied together everything and even left a bit there for potential continuity in a later book.

overall enjoyable ending to a beloved childhood series.

love Rick Riordan's books with a passion! He is an amazing author and a fantastic storyteller. This book series got me back into reading again and I'm very happy for that. He manages to make the books enjoyable for the audience, and also manages to put in bits of knowledge and mythology, a great mix! Anyone older than me who has kids, please get your children to read these books, they are fantastic!

I believe that when I wrote my review for the previous installment in the series, I said something along the lines of how I wondered how they would manage to wrap up all the storylines in this final book. Well, it turns out I had nothing to worry about at all. I was quite pleased with this ending!

I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a series do character development so well for teenagers.
In the first book, I really didn't have any connection to the characters, nor did I really have a strong desire to root for them outside of it just being the natural thing to do with a story. By this fifth book, however, I was so impressed with the choices that Percy, primarily, made for both the demigods and for his personal life. Obviously, because it's a middle-grade series, the "romance" aspect was super cheesy and still a little annoying, but overall it didn't hold much sway in how I felt about the story.

I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again: I’m so bummed that I missed out on reading these as a young teen. What I'm not bummed about? Picking them up as an adult. They feel really timeless and totally fun no matter what your age is. They're filled with hope, adventure, (found) family, and love. I recommend these to people of all walks of life.

It felt like a bit of a reward to finish this final book the night before the teaser trailer premiered for the adaptation. I'm glad about the fact that I get to be part of this fandom as it's growing and becoming more widespread.

I can’t wait to read the rest of Rick's series set within the same world. I have lots of questions that I hope are answered!

When I was younger I remember I used to reread this book over and over again and with good reason. Literally just one epic battle after the other. An epic ending to a life-changing book series. Goddamn.
