Marissa Meyer and her retellings are some of my favorite things. She always seems to find the right way to spin her tales and I adore that.
Would I recommend this to my best friend? I would recommend this duology to her. This world-building, the twists throughout the series, and our protagonists are just *chef's kiss*

I was weary of the ending in the first book, but this second one made up for it!

Gilded set the bar a little too high for Cursed. While I am a fan of Marissa Meyer—have been since TLC—I think she set herself up for a trap with the sheer amount of plot this book goes through. I truly believe the entire last half of the book could be its own work. By page 200 I no longer felt invested and just wanted to finish to see if it would be another Heartless.
