If you're looking for a mafia romance that is of the swoonier variety, this one definitely does the trick.

For me, I wanted a bit more edge, our hero to be a bit more anti-hero and more mafioso. I found it really hard to get into in places, mostly because I kept expecting the pace or danger to pick up faster. Found myself disengaging throughout- but the plot is pretty straight forward, and the whole hero is protecting the heroine thing is a trope I usually like.

Decent

It was a good story. Even though it was labeled as a romance, it would’ve been better if it was just a Mafia story sans romance.

Serena Vitale and her father hoped Diego would be the guy. In a battle against human trafficking Serena finds out they hoped right.

There’s a ton of chemistry between Serena and Diego. This book is filled with action scenes, angst, betrayal and heat. You won’t be able to put it down.

On the slower side of medium burn, heat level 3/5, no cheating but you do get an on the page description of a flashback with a trashy OW attempting to seduce H again the morning after they had sex the night before, no cliffhanger and an HEA.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This is a brilliant read.
Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start.
Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believeable.
Great suspense and action with wonderful world building that adds so much to the story.
Can't wait to read more of these.
Recommend reading.

This book is a dark roller coaster of emotions. We get action, suspense, mystery, and of course some hot chemistry between the two main characters. Serena is smart, classy, and a little bit like a lost cub in the woods. She is determined to make it on her own, and to stand on her own two feet. She has been through something horrific that her family has kept under wraps. Diego has demons of his own. He carries the guilt of past actions, and is just as determined to right his wrongs. When he meets Serena the instant connection they both feel can not be denied. With constant outside forces determined to not only tear them apart, but possibly kill them they need to stay ever vigilant. Follow along on their journey to see if they can overcome the malicious forces out to destroy them.
