4.5 stars! i could not put this down. truly everything i love about YA mysteries. it had all the tropes and elements i love about the genre. when i was reading this i thought, “this is exactly how i’d want my YA mystery to be” which is something that ever since i started writing, helps me determine which books i really loved. alexa’s writing is so easy to read and absolutely unputdownable. the only reason why this wasn’t a full 5 stars is because i didn’t love one of the final reveals (there’s more than one and i did really like the other). it’s mostly because it used a specific trope that just isn’t personally my favorite. So it was definitely a preference thing, because i do think it was done really well regardless.
