What an incredible book. I’m not always into this kind of mystic shit, but it was an amazing read. The twists and turns kept it fresh, and the writing style was also really nice. It was long, sure, but that’s not necessarily bad! In this case it didn’t matter so much. It was nice to read by the riverside, feet in the water, sun setting and everything. I really enjoyed all the motifs in the boom, like the seven freckles, the ring, the blue flowers, but also the part about being a woman in the rennaissance up until the 1970s. It was interesting to read about the practical things women faced during that time (even though we all know how fucking shit it was to not be a man during that time, and still is to a lesser extent now).

It was also really nice to see that there was so much gay in this book?? It was just nice to have some pansexual representation💅🏼
Especially Henry’s thoughts about loving someone first before considering their gender made me🥹

Anyway, nice book, read it👍🏼
And thank you Annebelle for giving this to me for my birthday over a year ago, I’m sorry I only read it now😭

If you’re looking for historical fiction with magical realism and a touch of romance, you will find this beautiful book scratches that itch.

A story about a woman who makes a deal with “the devil.” You travel with her for over 300 years, seeing how she copes with the terms of her deal, and grows.

A really amazing book that I would have taken more time with had I not had the ticking return on Libby.

I didn't know where it was going, but in a very pleasant way. The historical touchstones seem very well researched. References to major people or movements or events aren't heavy handed.

My one and only complaint is the book being a book in the end. To me it is a very hokey cliche and why it lost a star.
